Frances Kao
A movement scholar and theatre veteran
About me
Frances (Fran) Kao is a movement scholar and theatre veteran who invites humans to play and practice embodying their own artistic, athletic, and activist selves. From 1998, alongside a 17-year career in professional theatre and arts education, Fran has developed multiple opportunities to study human movement techniques and systems. Since 2015 her life work has focused on human wellness and wholeness. She commences her practice by starting with where her clients are in the present moment, with their, body-breathmind exactly as they are. In response to the pandemic, Fran has shifted all teaching to an online platform. With 23 years of teaching experience and 18 months of online implementation, she is delighted for the opportunity to connect with the women of the women participating in the “Harvest Your Wellbeing” pilot program via a live online platform. Fran engages a strong spiritual approach that expresses gratitude to her movement lineage, her teachers, to their teachers, to all the teachers and practitioners who have come before, and all yet to be. Her wish is for our breath and movement to amplify our vibration, and that our vibration (how we show up for this life) honors our ancestors, serves our descendants, and nourish all.
